The painting is after “The violinist” by Sabastiano Del Piombo, dated 1518. The original now hangs in the Alphonse Rothschild Collection, Paris. Formerly the painting was attributed to Raphael, and was hung in the Sciarri Collection, Rome.

Displayed on a stag’s horn stem, total length 650 mm.
